The original rocky road ice cream was created in the United States during the Great Depression. It was made by mixing together chocolate ice cream, nuts, and marshmallows, which were all inexpensive ingredients at the time.
The name "rocky road" is said to have been inspired by the difficult economic times, as well as the bumpy texture of the marshmallows and nuts. Today, rocky road ice cream is a popular flavor enjoyed around the world.

Steps by step instructions
How to make the Ninja Creami Rocky Road Ice Cream
STEP 1: Blend almond milk, cocoa powder, protein powder, vanilla extract, sweetener, and cream cheese on high for about 30 seconds using a blender. Next, pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint, seal the lid tightly, and freeze for 24 hours.
STEP 2: take the pint out of the freezer after 24 hours and remove the lid. Then, put it in the outer container of the ice cream maker and place the blade lid on top. Lock it securely in place.
Next, turn on the machine and press the "Smoothie Bowl" button. Let the machine run until the ice cream is ready.
STEP 3: Roughly chop the pecans and cut the sugar-free marshmallows into ¼" pieces. At this point, you can mix them into the ice cream with a spoon until evenly combined.
I find that mixing nuts in the Ninja Creami can create a grainy texture and therefore prefer to mix in the nuts and marshmallows manually after the base goes through a spin. Serve and enjoy!
