- Salt and Pepper: just a touch of salt and pepper to enhance the flavours of this recipe.
Steps by step instructions
How to make Low Carb Air Fryer Broccoli Parmesan?
STEP 1: Add 3 tablespoons of water underneath the air fryer basket or tray. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Placing water in the air fryer basket helps to keep the broccoli more tender without burning. (Watch video to see how I did it.)
*** Please note that it is suggested not to add water to your air fryer basket, so this is optional and you are doing so at your own risk. If you do not have an air fryer with a basket, you can also make this recipe without adding water.
STEP 2: In a large mixing bowl add the olive, black pepper, salt and mix until combined. Add in the bite sized pieces of broccoli and mix well. This may seem like alot but the air fryer will shrink them down quite a bit.
Next add a ¼ cup of grated parmesan and mix evenly throughout the broccoli.
STEP 3: Place the broccoli in the air fryer basket and air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes, toss and air fry for another 5 minutes.
Remove from air fryer basket and top with remaining grated parmesan cheese. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes (optional).
Recipe tips
Here are just a few tips to ensure the air fryer broccoli turns out the same as oven roasted broccoli.
- To ensure even cooking of the air fried broccoli make sure to cut into bite sized pieces. However, not too small as the tips will burn before the rest of the broccoli is cooked.
- Mix the broccoli with the seasonings prior to placing in the air fryer basket. This ensure the broccoli is well coated and all the flavours will be evenly distributed.
Serving: enjoy the air fryer broccoli parmesan on the side with a grilled ribeye steak or chicken. Try them on the side of some Low Carb Steak Kabobs.
