This carnivore week I decided to make a protein lasagna. I simply replaced noodles with a layer of deli turkey and provolone slices.

Everything else was the typical ingredients you use in a lasagna, like ground meat, sauce and cheese. I added sliced sausages and ricotta as well. It was my lunch for the week although I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, it's so good!

    Blood Sugars

Morning blood sugars during the carnivore experiment are still high, however I have noticed during the day they seem to be around 5.5 to 5.9 most of the time. I'm hoping over time my blood sugars will continue to drop while I eat carnivore and continue to fast.

    Eating

Still on the same schedule that I posted in week 1 and 2. However, due to a lunch engagement I had to skip out on fasting one of the days. Other meals I had during the week were steaks, sausages and I also made pork rind nachos which is amazing.

Although the nachos were amazing, I feel like I've been eating way too much dairy over the past 3 weeks and I think I am going to try to cut back in the coming weeks.

    Gym Routine

I'm adding my gym routine as I think many people want to know what I've been doing in the gym. I do go to the gym 3 days per week. Usually on Tuesday and Thursday nights after work and then once on the weekend, usually Saturday morning.

I definitely noticed more strength this week in the gym, in fact, I was able to increase the amount of weight I was lifting as I felt I could easily take on more.

My typical gym routine on Tuesdays and Thursdays are the same, 10 minute warm up walking on the treadmill, weight machines where I focus on chest, arms and back, I then finish off with 20 minutes on the elliptical or the arc trainer. Saturdays I only do cardio, treadmill, elliptical and bike.

    Pooping

Happy to say my pooping has finally started to feel normal again. I mean, I was always going first thing in the morning after my coffee but now it's finally a solid but less bulky poop.

Since I am not eating any fibre/vegetables there is less bulk that needs to be digested so my poops are small.

    Weight-loss

I gained 2 pounds this week during the carnivore experiment, total weight-loss is -4 lbs. I attribute the weight gain to the increase in muscle as I mentioned I have increased lifting at the gym.

I do feel leaner and strong, so I am happy with what I have accomplished so far.

Other Side Effects of Carnivore Week

Some other things I have noted but have yet to explore further are feeling cold at night, especially my feet.

The last few nights this week my feet have been cold, only while sleeping, even though the temps have been milder. I have also noticed that I bleed more, when I prick myself when I check my blood sugars, it doesn't seem to clot as quick as it used to, it runs thinner and bleeds longer.

Not sure if these are symptoms of a carnivore diet but I will monitor it this week and do some research.

I will update you next Monday on how week 4 went for me.
